IP Fabrics and RadiSys Team to Speed Time to Market for
Next Generation Networking Equipment
Press Release
IP Fabrics' PPL Software Supports New RadiSys' Promentum ATCA-7010
Network Processor Module
IP Fabrics, Inc., developer of leading-edge software for network
processor silicon, today announces that its PPL (Packet Processing
Language) software will support the RadiSys Promentum ATCA-7010
dual network processor AdvancedTCA blade. By ensuring that IP Fabrics’
PPL software and the RadiSys ATCA-7010 are fully compatible, the
two companies offer a complete packet-processing subsystem that
greatly reduces the time required to create, test, and deploy high-performance
networking and communications equipment.
“As a RadiSys Alliance member, IP Fabrics is working with
RadiSys to expand the adoption of network processor and AdvancedTCA
technology into new markets,” said Ted Ridgway, RadiSys Vice
President of Service Provider and Enterprise Equipment. “IP
Fabrics’ software and tools can help our customers get their
networking and communications products to market faster.”
Based on the Intel® IXP2850 network processor, the RadiSys ATCA-7010
is designed to address the 10Gbps packet-processing market. When
complemented with the IP Fabrics’ PPL for IXP28xx software,
the RadiSys ATCA-7010 is ideal for use in applications such as security
gateways, VoIP session border controllers, and 3G wireless infrastructure
elements.
“The RadiSys ATCA-7010, enhanced with our PPL software, is
a powerful, carrier-class platform for creating next-generation
networking and communications applications,” says Kevin Graves,
IP Fabrics CTO. “Our joint customers will be able to create
and deploy sophisticated, high-performance packet-processing solutions
without the hardware-software integration complexities and delays
that are normally required in deploying software on a new platform.”
About IP Fabrics' PPL
IP Fabrics’ PPL for Intel IXP28XX network processors includes
everything needed to create, test, and deploy network processor
applications for the Intel IXP28XX network processor product line.
PPL’s high-level programming significantly reduces the development
time required to implement “deep packet processing”
functions such as intrusion detection, voice-over-Internet, anti-spam,
anti-virus, web filtering, content switching, Internet traffic management,
and application-level cryptography compared to programming in assembly
language or C.
More About RadiSys' Promentum ATCA-7010
The Promentum ATCA-7010 features dual Intel IXP28xx network
processors with 1.4 GHz core and 70 MHz Xscale™ and can be
configured as single, or dual, parallel or pipelined. 10 Gbps packet
processing is made possible with 10, one gigabit Ethernet interfaces
that connect via a rear transition module (RTM). The ATCA-7010 supports
PICMG 3.0 and PICMG 3.1 fabric interfaces and includes three independent
banks of 256 MB RDRAM per network processor, at 533 MHz/1055MT.The
module also includes four banks of 8MB (maximum) ODR II SRAM per
network processor. An optional 18 Mbit TCAM is available in place
of an SRAM bank.
